Step Forward Michigan
Michigan received federal funds to assist homeowners in preventing property tax foreclosure. The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) is using a special program called Step Forward Michigan to offer interest free, payment free, forgivable Hardest Hit Fund loans of up to $30,000.00 to help homeowners pay property taxes owed to the county or local municipality.
You may be eligible if:
- You own and lived in your home when the property taxes were due (your name is on the recorded deed to the property)
- You have less than $10,000.00 in the bank (not including retirement accounts)
- You have enough income to pay next year’s property taxes
Go to Step Forward Michigan or contact the Treasurer’s Office for more information and to apply for help.
