Flood Damage Self Reporting Survey – Survey 123
Cheboygan County Emergency Management would like to sincerely thank all residents, visitors, and partner agencies for their continued patience and cooperation during this historic flooding event. The resilience and support shown across our communities have been critical as we work through this ongoing response.
“On behalf of Cheboygan County, I want to express our deepest sympathy for the hardship this flooding has caused so many families,” said Lt. Jeremy Runstrom. “We recognize the significant impact to homes, livelihoods, and daily life.
Current Closures:
• The Cheboygan River above the DNR Dam and the Black River downstream from Alverno Dam remain closed.
• Additional closures remain in place for the Indian River and the Crooked River.
• The United States Coast Guard has clarified that the Cheboygan River is open from lock/dam to mouth of Lake Huron.
• The US-23 Lift Bridge remains closed per Michigan Department of Transportation.
While water levels remain high, we are beginning to see a gradual decrease. Residents are asked to remain patient and cautious, as full recovery will take time. Emergency management continues to coordinate closely with local, state, and federal partners to ensure a unified and effective response.
With recent flooding District Health Department No. 4 has established a plan for well water testing. Residents should refer to the official guidance before using private well systems.
The Cheboygan County Building Department has issued a press release which offers property owners direction for their flooded homes.
